The problem of the vegetable-growers and breeders is that they are not united

In the new program period 13% of the subsidies will be for breeders and vegetable-growers, subsidies above 150 000 euro for grain production will be taxed with up to 5%.
The minister of agriculture and foods prof. Dimitar Grekov announced that in the next program period 13% of the subsidies for agriculture in Bulgaria will be for breeding animals, horticulture and fruit-growing. "Unfortunately at the moment we are paying for the number of animals, but according to the official data since 2009 the number of animals and animal breeders in Bulgaria has increased a lot." announced Grekov.  According to him one of the main problem of the animal breeders, vegetable-growers in Bulgaria is the lack of union among them. Only in the animal breeding sector there are more than 30 separate organizations. For this reason minister Grekov asked all organizations to legitimate themselves so that it can become clear what is their staff, how many animals do they have and to understand who are the real representatives of the branch.
With the vegetable-growers in most of the cases the organizations represent themselves alone or a specific settlement and this is making the progress in this sector harder. According to the agriculture minister if the producers unite, the expenses of the farmers will decrease significantly, the export will be arranged in a much more efficient way and this will give them a better access ti the European Markets.
On the subject of the grain producers, Grekov explained that during the next program period the subsidies for this sector will be given for number of units of the cultivated area. "The grain producers, realistically cultivate vast areas and take very large subsidies. On the last council in Luxembourg was taken a decision not to set a limit of the areas for which the farmer gets subsidies but when the amount is above 150 000 euro, the subsidies will be taxed with 3% to 5%. The rest of the amounts will be directed to some of our traditional sectors" explained the agriculture minister.
He explained that it is a serious problem that there is no administration in the ministry of agriculture which deals with analyzing the markets.
